Operations Geologist - Associate Consultant Opportunities

Growth in our offices globally is providing new opportunities in our consultancy business. Currently we have associate opportunities for Operations Geologists with extensive experience in wellsite and office-based Operations Geology support.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills and must have experience of managing wellsite geological services as well as experience in LWD / Logging programme design, management and data QC.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Actively involved with drilling team coordinating, scrutinizing and disseminating all geological data related to drilling and completions of wells
  • Work closely with all drilling personnel and production/completions personnel as required.
  • Provide geological support to the Production department in the way of formation information.
  • Oversee the day to day geological operation on the drilling rig, providing technical expertise and remote supervision on a daily basis
  • Liaise and provide operational support to clients on a scheduled daily basis and as required with the asset team 24/7. Advise client of operational concerns ahead of any potential problems, allowing client / wells management team to plan ahead and reduce downtime
  • Take responsibility for tender evaluation to assist in service company selection. Take stewardship of contracts to ensure full compliance is achieved
  • Review all Drilling programs for clarity and content, managing all geology related contractors as per signed contracts
  • Work together with Safety Supervisors to ensure QHSE matters are addressed properly. Ensure reporting of incidents / accidents are done correctly and promptly. Promote a safe work environment
  • Supervise the geological aspects of the well design process

  • Ensure technical, design and operational risk factors are comprehensively addressed to maximise cost efficiency of well design and operation. Advise client / drilling team of cost implications pertaining to the project
  • Responsible for delivery of end of well reports and composite logs
  • Responsible for the coordination of the shipments of geological samples from rig to storage and third party specialist services (core laboratories, biostratigraphy, BGS etc.)
