Position Name: Exploration Geologist Consultant (Temporary Position)
Position Location: Silver Bell Mine Site
Position reports to: Mine Geologist
Responsibilities: The Exploration Geologist is responsible for geological logging of exploration geology rock samples that are collected during exploration drilling at the Silver Bell Mine. The duties include but are not limited to;
- Geological logging- consisting of detailed description of sample rock type, mineralogy, alteration, and estimating copper ore grade of rock chip and diamond core rock samples using a hand lens
- Physical handling of geological samples
- Summarizing logging data
- Data analysis and assay database maintenance
- Surveying
- Drill site construction oversight
Physical Handling includes delivering the samples from the field collection sites (drilling sites) to the laboratory, and properly storing samples. This job requires the ability to repeatedly lift 60 pounds, drive a pickup truck safely in the mining areas, become certified for driving a fork lift, and walk on rocky, uneven surfaces.
Other duties may be assigned by the mine geologist.
RequirementsRequirements:
- BS in Geology
- Trained in porphyry copper exploration
- Experience working on sample preparation
