Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Geology and Sedimentary, plus any other substantive areas as determined by the Department of Geology; (ii) supervise student research projects and thesis at both undergraduate and graduate levels; (iii) conduct research in their area of expertise; (iv) provide service to the community; (v) Associate Professor/Professor, will also be expected to provide academic leadership and act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vi) carry out any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: Lecturer: Applicants for the position should have: (i) a Masters Degree in Geology/Sedimentary Geology; (ii) a Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related fields with at least a 2(i) pass and an overall aggregate not less than 65%; (iii) show evidence of engagement in research and service; (iv) teaching experience at a university or comparable institution and demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages. Associate Professor: Candidates should have: (i) at least a Masters Degree in Geology/Sedimentary Geology; (ii) Bachelors Degree in Geology or related fields; (iii) hold the position of Associate Professor in Geology/Sedimentary Geology or at least 5 years of teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iv) at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) Evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) Evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) a relevant PhD will be an added advantage; (viii) the profile should reflect the ability to attract funding from international sources, if any (added advantage). Professor: Candidates should have: (i) at least a Masters Degree in Geology/Sedimentary Geology; (ii) Bachelors Degree in Geology or related fields; (iii) hold the position of Professor of Geology/Sedimentology or have at least 8 years of teaching experience in a university or comparable institution; (iv) at least 24 publications, 12 of which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single author in at least 10 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) Evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) Evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) a relevant PhD will be an added advantage; (viii) the profile should reflect the ability to attract funding from international sources, if any (added advantage).
